Sale of 3D printed artists’ models

We are delighted to announce the sale of 3D models printed with the consent of the artists who designed them!

Selling 3D-printed models, yes, but responsibly

Let’s face it, very few people are good at making beautiful 3D models. Some artists, however, are gifted in the field and have made it their profession. A growing number of them have made models suitable for 3D printing. However, simply downloading the file online and printing a copy at home doesn’t support the artist, who has often spent weeks perfecting the model.

That’s why many of these artists put their models behind paid portals, and forbid the free sale of their work. 3D Etplus is proud to contribute to the income of these dedicated creative people by working out commission agreements to enable us to print and sell their work.

In particular, Loubie3D ‘s collection of models is now available on demand. Designs by other artists are also in the process of being added to this system of framework agreements. The models will not be kept in stock, but printed on demand, so delivery may take some time, depending on the printing time and the number of pieces to be produced (the chess set, for example, takes up to 4 days of complete printing to be completed with a board made of inset pieces).

Here’s an example of Loubie’s Dragons chess set, with the matching Cantareus insert board.

These models are highly detailed, and some require support material (a scaffold that can be removed once the piece is finished in the printer). But the final result is breathtaking, even in filament printing (Loubie designed them for resin printing, reputed to be more accurate)!

The game can also be ordered with the board printed in the colors of the pieces, in pieces that clip together. The result is an attractive, unique set that can be disassembled for transport or storage without much fuss.

The full catalog page is still under development, and 3D Etplus can’t offer prints of multicolored models at the moment. In the meantime, we advise you to visit the Loubie3D model catalog on Cults3D before ordering.

However, PLA models are easy to paint! For this, we recommend Polymaker‘s PolyTerra, because in addition to being environmentally friendly, its matte surface lends itself very well to acrylic painting, with little or no surface preparation required.
